Raccoons belong in the forest; not on the streets of the Windy City. But rainy days make for runny mascara, and you’d better go waterproof, lest you should look the part of a woodland creature. Right? Not if you have falsies! And we don’t mean the stick-ons from Sally Hansen’s. Runny, flaky, too short, too light: The Spa @ Equinox solves any lash problem you can fathom and virtually eliminates the need for product with their brand new Eye Lash Extension services.
Ranging from $150-500 in price, (depending on the look you want to achieve) the first step is to consult with Xtreme Lash Specialist/Makeup Artist Heather Hughes. With Heather’s help, you’ll be able to determine the best length (wear sunglasses regularly? You won’t want them hitting your lashes), color (go über dark with jet black, or punch up your eyes with a fun, bright hue) and volume for your lashes. She’ll also tell you everything you need to know beforehand, such as how long it will be before you can shower, sweat or sleep on your side (48 hours!) and what to bring (a face free of makeup and your IPod).
We went with medium, black and voluminous, and stepped into Heather’s spa room.
Over the next two hours, we just laid back and relaxed while Heather worked her magic. Applying the extensions to the base of your natural lashes, Heather finds the perfect spot to place each individual extension: Your natural lashes must long enough to support the extension, but not so long that they’re about to fall out. Giving off a longer, thicker, yet still natural-looking appearance, we think they’re totally worth the investment.
See for yourself: Here, our before and after lash debut!

This initial set will last long enough to grow out with your regular lashes (about 2-3 months, with proper care), and you can fill them in thereafter for approximately $125. But the compliments you’re sure to receive and the satisfaction of banishing that old mascara wand? Priceless.
